Early start of the bus heading towards Granada

Getting up early in the morning doesn’t mean that it is „traveling at leisure“. The alarm called me at 6:45 o’clock, showering and getting ready for breakfast, down to the breakfast area and realising that there is plenty of time ‚till we are going to leave.

The suitcases were waiting at the front door of the room for the luggage service. It’s so nice when you don’t have to worry about your things. No lifting of heavy loads and no struggles to get it in time to the bus.

Sharp 9:00 o’clock the bus was leaving towards Granada. But before getting there, there was a stop at the Finca Ramon (a framer, who grows exotic fruits and vegetables), afterwards lunch at the beach in Salobreña in the Bar Restaurante El Molino. This is a family-run restaurant where we did get Paella and grilled Swordfish with vegetables afterwards. It was nice but nothing really special.

Around 15:00 hours we continued heading towards Granada which was roughly a 50 km ride. The weather was not nice at all: It was windy, cold and from time to time raining. Arriving at the Hotel Meliá in Granada there was again luggage service provided. But checking in was quite unusual: The tour guide collected all IDs and passports (because they needed to be scanned in) and we received the room access cards with the note that we should keep in mind to pick-up our IDs later that day.

The room #216 was facing a courtyard and a little bit smelly: The maid might have used a fragrance spray that I didn’t like much. Anyway, the room was simple but provided enough space to feel comfortable. But this room does not match 4* hotel standards. Because of the fact that we didn’t got any activities announced for that evening, a first visit to Granada was on my list after I had to refresh myself.

Walking through town and to find my way around was quite easy. The Frontfrau manager had provided a tiny map of the surrounding area which I explored. I finally made my way uphill and got to one of the entrances to the grounds of the Alhambra. This palace was on my list to be visited the upcoming day. Therefore I walked back to the hotel that I reached at 19:30 o’clock – time for tapas, a beer and some cheese to round up that day.
